You may have noticed the Z is missing from the Carquinez Middle School sign. Please know the John Swett Education Foundation is very aware of the missing Z and if the Z is not returned to the Carquine Middle School sign in short order, the JSEF will be taking action. We know people at the John Swett Unified School District and they WILL be hearing about this. Rest assured, the John Swett Education Foundation will go to bat to get the Z back on the middle school sign on behalf of our community.
Granted, the school district has been busy combatting Covid 19-20-21-22 and the missing Z is no doubt the least of its problems. At our monthly meeting board member Marla Parada reported what she learned about the John Swett Unified School District at the monthly meeting of PAC, the Parental Advisory Counsel. Fortunately, our school district has had an impressive response to Covid, recently obtaining thousands of tests and masks for our students. John Angel is rumored to have spearheaded the obtaining of the tests (thank you John Angel!) and Superintendent Charles Miller was sure to order the smaller size KN95 masks for every student at the elementary school, and regular sized masks are available to students at the High School in the administrative office for the asking. Not sure exactly what size masks are being given to the Carquine Middle School students.
The Covid outbreaks in our schools are in direct correlation to the Covid activity in our community. Our schools are NOT a hot bed for viral activity, except for viral learning (hopefully). Academia is contagious in the JSUSD schools.
The John Swett Education Foundation recently donated a tent to the High School so students can comfortably eat and do other stuff outdoors. We recently received a thank you note and a photo from Maya Nelson and seeing that tent filled my heart with pride. We really can make a difference.
If you would like to donate to the JSEF, feel free! There are several ways you can donate. You can go to our webpage www.johnswettef.org and click on the donate button and also buy a tall glass of cold refreshing virtual lemonade. If you shop at Amazon you can sign up for Amazon Smile and select the JSEF as the non-profit you would like to support. If your employer offers matching funds, we will gladly accept corporate money, too. The JSEF is linked to Benevity your employer may use that site for matching donations. Since you like paper (as evidenced by what you are holding in your hands right now) you can write a check and mail it to JSEF, P.O. Box 455, Crockett, CA 94525.
If you are interested in attending the monthly PAC meeting, please head over to www.jsusd.org and in the “Upcoming Events” section on the home page you will see a link to that meeting. I would put the link here only this is paper and there is nothing to click. Next PAC meeting is on February 2, 2022.
You are always invited to our monthly John Swett Education Foundation meetings. If interested, please contact our President Emma Sutton at johnswettef@gmail.com. Our next meeting will be on February 15 via Zoom, hope to see you there!
